O the mystery…. August 7, 2008

Microwave Popcorn….mmmm…well I officially started my weight loss campaign again.  My starting point was McKenzie’s 6 month bday.  So I was bummed my baby is closer to her one year bday, but I was REALLY bummed that my deadline had arrived!

So here I am STARVING!  And I think hhmm what in the world can I eat @ 9 PM, that I can feel good about in the morning?  A small (and I mean small) bag of microwave popcorn!  And I consider it a victory since I only had 10 kernals that did not pop!  :)   Not to bad!:)

Altho it sent me on a hunt online for different micro popcorns….and this is what I found and I thought I would share…with the one person who actually reads this…LOL

Plain Brown Popper

Recipe courtesy Alton Brown
Show:  Good Eats
Episode:  Ear Apparent

1/4 cup good quality popcorn
2 teaspoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or popcorn salt
Sprinkle jalapeno seasoning mix
Paper lunch bag
Stapler

Toss the popcorn with the olive oil, salt, and jalapeno seasoning mix in the paper bag. Fold the top of the bag over and staple the bag twice to close. Place the bag in the microwave and microwave on high for 2 minutes to 3 minutes, or until there are about 5 seconds between pops.
NOTE: Popcorn salt is a super-fine salt that is designed especially for sticking to food such as popcorn. It has the taste of regular table salt, but its granules are much finer.

That Uncle Alton (as we call him here…:)  I would do this sans staples (staples + microwave = walmart trip for new microwave…haha)  So I would just fold it over…but great idea huh?

Maybe I will try that tomorrow night, when I am STARVING again….haha

Sounds yummy. I will have to try it once I am no longer staying in a hotel. Thanks for sharing.

No, I think Amiee should try it while she’s at the hotel, using the staple part. That way if it ruins the microwave, it’ll be no big deal. And if it doesnt seem to bother the microwave, she can tell us.

I am all over this tho, but I wonder if I could make a kettlecorn version with splenda? Can we make that as a class project for out Thursday meeting? (Thats what weightloss meeting are missing… food!)
